The famous colours of Gulf Oil appeared on the Aston Martin Racing team cars in the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans. The new livery was unveiled at the Autosport International Show in London in January 2008.
The 2008 race marked the 40th anniversary of the legendary Gulf GT40 win at Le Mans.
The two Gulf-sponsored Aston Martin DBR9s performed superbly in the 2008 race. Car 009 won the GT1 class. The 007 car, with Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Andrea Piccini and Karl Wendlinger behind the wheel, finished fourth in the class.
