Scalextric Digital: Race craft

Scalextric Digital offers much more than standard Scalextric racing.

Scalextric Digital allows more than one car in the same lane with control of each car remaining with the driver. Up to six cars can share one lane, and each driver can choose to change lane at the touch of a button on the hand controller. This means that potentially any car can occupy any lane at any time - just like real racing!

To get the best out of Scalextric Digital, new racing rules have to be adopted:

Racing Awareness

  • More than one car on a lane - Beware!
  • Only stop in a safe place. Tip: Nominate a pit lane as the safe area to avoid being hit from a car approaching from behind.
  • Replace deslotted cars in a safe area. Tip: Nominate a safe lane or area for replacing deslotted cars.
  • Agree a non-contact rule.
  • Agree a 'drive-through' penalty for excessive contact or crashing.
  • Plan ahead - racing with other cars on the track requires more tactical planning. For instance, if there is a major incident on track, use this opportunity to take a pit stop if you are using the C7041 Pit Lane Game or change lane to avoid the incident.
  • Look ahead - Be aware of a slower car or an incident involving a crashed car ahead. Change lanes in good time to avoid being held up.
  • Look behind - Be aware of a faster car approaching from behind. Change lane to allow faster cars to go past or risk a penalty 'drive through' for holding up the leader!
