"JAMES MAY TOY STORIES & THE BROOKLANDS SCALEXTRIC WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT"
On August 16th the BBC programme will be filming their record attempt at creating the worlds longest Scalextric track around the route of the famous Brooklands banked circuit. Just one problem - only half of it still survives!
This exciting record attempt will see up to 20,000 pieces of Scalextric track laid down end-to-end to retrace the formerley glorious and brath-taking high-banked circuit around nearly three miles of the Surrey countryside near Weybridge.
Impossible? No, it can be done. Residents and business owners and their employees are all helping to make this a fantastic community event along with Scalextric fans from around the UK.
Many obstacles are to be overcome such as: a broken bridge, a river, a pond, a tunnel, a staircase, woodlands, main roads and a dual-carriageway, high fences and all sorts of terrain.

Finally, once the Scalextric circuit is completed, two teams, residents vs. fans, will race two cars around the circuit and set the Guiness world record.
To be part of this incredible event watch this space for more information!
"THE SEARCH TO FIND THE SCALEXTRIC 2009 CLUB CHAMPION"
In 1909 the Test Hill, a strip of concrete 352 feet long with an average gradient of 1 in 5.027 and a gradient for the top third of 1 in 4, was constructed. This hill was built to test the ability of cars both to climb steep hills and also to test their brakes coming down. The first car to attempt the climb failed ignominiously but on March 26th 1909 the first Hill Certificate was issued to Kidner's 20hp Vauxhall which climbed it from a standing start in 15.041 seconds.
Today the Test Hill still represents an eagerly accepted challenge for many drivers of period cars, featuring strongly in many car club events - and now for Scalextric too!

This is the view back down the Brooklands Test Hill - if your car reaches the top!
Bring your own prepared Scalextric car (or use a car from a selection we will provide) and see if you can become the
