SCALEXTRIC LAND SPEED RECORD ON TV.

TV Broadcast set for Monday 30th, June, The GADGET SHOW on channel FIVE at 8pm.

You can see the fun that THE GADGET SHOW team had at the Land Speed Record attempt on FIVE on Monday 30th June. The story is told from the GADGET SHOW's perspective, the concept through to breaking the record. A 'must watch' for Scalextric enthusiasts.

LAND SPEED WORLD RECORD SMASHED AT THE VK CHATSWORTH RALLY SHOW

TV celebrity and presenter of Channel 5’s ‘The Gadget Show’, Dallas Campbell, stole the show at the sun-soaked Chatsworth Rally Show this weekend, by breaking the Scalextric land speed Guinness World Record.

Despite facing stiff competition from the VK Vodka Kick Ferrari 430 team led by Global Brands’ chairman, Steve Perez, Dallas smashed the world record with his Scalextric Honda F1 car, recording an equivalent speed of 983.88 mph.*

Scalextric and rally enthusiasts were out in force to beat the previous record which stood at 696.9 mph, by racing their modified cars across the 200ft long track held in the picturesque grounds of The Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire.

Scalextric cars such as the Aston Martin and Porsche 911, which only measure up to a few centimetres in length, achieved equivalent speeds of over 700 mph, to wow the crowds.

The top 3 times recorded during the Scalextric world record attempt, are as follows:

1. Dallas Campbell, The Gadget Show – 983.88 mph
2. Maxim magazine – 917.67 mph
3. VK Vodka Kick, Steve Perez – 896.41 mph

Away from the land speed record attempt, over 14,000 visitors attended this year’s VK Chatsworth Rally Show, which offered a unique opportunity to experience the thrills, spills, raw speed and power of a top UK rallying event. World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm was amongst the stars participating, whilst a pageant of rallying history and precision and stunt-driving displays were some of the many attractions on show.

Steve Perez, chairman of Global Brands which manufacturers VK Vodka Kick, said: “I’ve been a rally driver for many years, but nothing quite prepared me for the nail-biting tension and drama experienced during the Scalextric land speed world record attempt. It’s amazing that cars of this size can achieve equivalent speeds of over 900mph, with Dallas and The Gadget Show team achieving a terrific feat by smashing the world record by some margin.

“This year’s Chatsworth Rally Show was a superb event for rally enthusiasts, and with it being held in such a picturesque backdrop, it has to be one of the most spectacular in the country.”

The Gadget Show has now advised us that it will be televised on June 30th at 8pm on FIVE.
