  • History

In 1962 Jim Hall and Hap Sharp formed Chaparral Cars, Inc. and immediately began the design and construction of Chaparral 2, a mid-engine car with an aerospace inspired, semi-monocoque, fibreglass chassis.

In 1967 Chaparral introduced the 2F, a high winged coupe for World Championship Endurance Racing. The car featured a 7 litre Chevrolet engine.

It set the fastest lap in five of its eight race entries in 1967 and won its final race at Brands Hatch. Partnered by Mike Spence, Phil Hill scored his very last career win in the Brands Hatch BOAC 500 driving the Jim Hall Chaparral 2F, beating the second placed Ferrari P4 of Jackie Stewart and Chris Amon.

    The Scalextric Model

Scalextric has modelled the only surviving 2F, which is still owned by Jim Hall. It was demonstrated at the 2005 Monterey Historic Races and at the famous Goodwood Revival meeting in 2006. The model is finished in a very pure white with the correct decal livery.

This Digital Plug Ready (DPR) car can be converted for use with the Scalextric Digital range in under sixty seconds using the C8515 Digital Plug. The car features quick change guide braid plate, front & rear lights and a detachable rear wing.
