ApeFromSpace
Hi everyoneWould appreciate any pointers with this as I'm keen to get the right set for my 5yr old, ie ARC ONE vs Mini Challenge vs Asda Supercars vs Continental Sport.1. I already have a bunch of Sport track pieces, but they've been purchased separately and don't belong to specific sets. Can I still add these to my collection via the app, ie add each part code, eg 6 x C8207? Or does it only accept full sets?2. If I can't do the above, does the app get "confused" if I build a track it doesn't "know"?2. Not everyone seems to like the ARC controllers. Are they too sticky/sensitive for first time drivers aged 5yrs? How adjustable are they? Could I use a pair of C8437 with ARC ONE?Thanks
Andy P.
Hi There,I think my blog post answers most of your questions:https://slotcarp.wordpress.com/There are ways to get around the controllers and still keep the power regulated to avoid frustration. You can use any track with the APP even non-Scaley products. The only advatage of using the packaged sets is that you can compare times and get a "speed" read out. Lap timing and lap counting always work no matter how you set things up. ApeFromSpace
Thanks for the heads up on your article - a very handy read.Sounds like a lot of good functionality mashed up with some not so good, hence I'm still in two minds. Have installed the app and found it a bit crashy on my Nexus 5 (Lollipop). Also, Dale Luckhurst's video illustrates being able to change the power (via car handling) but this is greyed out in my version and says only available in Air or Pro. If that's the way it is then that'll probably be a deal breaker as the controllers seem way too fiddly/sensitive to mechanical tweaking.
Andy P.
The "brake mod" allowing you to use and controllers and any brand that you can connect to the SPORT track (for example SCX or NINCO via adapters) means that you don't have to deal with the controllers at all.I have two ARC ONEs. One with the standard controllers for testing purposes and one with the brake mod for racing.Given the powerbase is sub 50 $/GBP/€ it is a heck of a lot cheaper than digital and you get all you need for basic race management.I only have apple devices so I can't speak ot the stability on others... ApeFromSpace
That brake mod sounds like the answer. I have a standard Sport PB so I could pick up a couple of C8437 controllers and use those. Will test the app on my iPad iOS8 when I get back home.
