@Andy P.

I thought I had respnded to this that a KITT car has already been done... Albeit without cool strobe lights in the front..

Andy,

I know the KITT car was made back in the late 80s / early 90s but let's be honest - it was a terrible model. It looked completely the wrong shape, it sat too high on its F1 wheels and it had blacked out windows with no interior. Oh, and it had "Knight Rider" tampo printed on the rear, something I never remember seeing on the TV show! No doubt it was limited by the technology of the time but it is begging for a reissue using modern tooling techniques. I'm very tempted to convert a 1/32 diecast model into a slot car...

Predictions / wishes for future TV and movie cars...

2021

Delorean - Back To The Future Part 2 (with Mr Fusion attachment)

Pontiac Firebird - KITT - Knight Rider (including strobe light)

Aston Martin V8 - James Bond - The Living Daylights (with detachable skis)

2022

Delorean - Back To The Future Part 3 (with 1955 wheels)

Delorean triple set - BTTF1 (with doc Brown driving) BTTF2 (with folded wheels in flight mode) BTTF3 (with rail wheels and 1885 bonnet attachment)

Pontiac Firebird - KARR

Ecto1 - Ghostbusters

Schedule will be achievable with only 1 new tool per year and maximise the usage of the Delorean model announced this year with a total of 6 editions, 3 of which will be exclusive to the triple set

I thought it might be fun to try and guess what new models Scalextric will be announcing next week. This is not a wishlist, just a fun predictions thread that we can check back on later to award bragging rights.

GT

I‘m really hoping for the new Aston Martin Vantage GTE but I think more likely will be the BMW M6 GT to go with the already announced Fords

BTTC

I don’t think there’ll be any new models, just reliveries of the existing ones

Legends

A retool of the Aston Martin DBR1?

F1

Maybe  a 2017 Mclaren in the new orange but more likely a new version of the Hamilton/Bottas Mercedes

any other guesses?

I - along with many others - thoroughly enjoy reading the Test Track blog on the last friday of every month. I have a suggestion for a future edition-

How does Scalextric decide on which cars to model? Is there market research? We've seen lots about how you start the modelling process by visiting the original full sized cars, but who is it that decides you're going to make a McLaren 720 instead of an Aston Martin Vulcan, or a Porsche 918? How do you obtain the rights etc.?

Thanks for all of the blogs so far and keep up the great work!

Already pre-ordered the second Ford Falcon that may or may not be associated with a certain warrior of the road! I couldn't see a doggie in the passenger side of the car though. An oversight or a deliberate attempt to make the driver MAD to the MAX?

I completely agree with Roger from Switzerland above that most scalextric collectors and racers are fully grown men that grew up watching classic films and TV. How about the Back To The Future Deloreon or a retool of the Knight Rider Trans Am? Id also love to see an A-Team van and a Smokey and the Bandit Firebird.

Here, here! I have been campaigning for this ever since my pre-order was cancelled. I'll be asking the boys again when I see them in Gaydon!
