The Class E Ford XY GTHO of Allan Moffat is one of the all-time greats of Bathurst. 1971 saw Moffatt put the car on pole for the Hardie-Ferodo 500 and win the race by a lap from his nearest rival. Whilst a ‘boxy’ looking car, the GTHO was a fearsome competitor, combining great straight-line speed with pinpoint handling.

I have recently embarked upon the new world of Scalextric. I was lucky enough for my fiancé to buy me the Bathurst Legends set at Christmas. This set contained the Ford Falcon XY and the L34 Torana. The Falcon in question raced a few years before the L34 Torana (it was the XB / XC Falcons that completed against this model Torana) however they both look amazing, especially the Falcon. The looks are about the only area where the Falcon wins, as the Torana is faster and handles better. I admit I haven’t gone as fair as removing magnets yet, but the Torana is definitely quicker, no matter what lane it is racing in. This is definitely a solid three star car.
