24h Le Mans

24h Le Mans is the world’s longest running endurance car race, which has taken place every year since 1923 near Le Mans in France on the eight-and-a-half-mile long Circuit de la Sarthe – a combination of closed public roads and a custom built racing circuit.

The race is a test of car manufacturers’ ability to build fast, yet reliable cars that can withstand twenty-four hours of near continuous racing (teams of three drivers usually race for approximately two hours each between pit stops) – teams often cover over 3,000 miles during one race.

The prestigious twenty-four hour race represents one part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, alongside the Indianapolis 500 and Monaco Grand Prix. Since 2012 the race has also been part of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
