Hi dd213, did you try loading the BLE v2.6 firmware onto the ARC PRO using nRF tools? If so, what happened?

sure did Dr.C....the ARC Pro PB doesn't show up on any device Bluetooth...and hasn't since my screw up...tried several times with several devices apple and androi...if there was a way to connect to the PB other than BLE I could load firmware but as of yet I've had no luck

ok yes... this is more difficult than I had assumed... If you programmed the firmware into thinking it is a different type of device - for example a wireless controller - then the sequence for setting the BLE device into DFU mode for firmware update over air by nRF tools may itself be different. It may therefore be necessary to reflash using the J-link hard wired interface which needs specialist knowledge and interface hardware. Probably best in this situation to ask Hornby customer support whether they could help you by reflashing the main nRF51822 processor with BLE v2.6 firmware.

Hi dd213, we all do these things... I managed to brick a brand new APB powerbase a few months ago by loading the wrong firmware... I just happened to be very very lucky that a solution came into focus... however the ARC PRO uses more advanced technology for firmware upgraded and so far more difficult to rectify if you go off course... if you are in the US there are some amazing deals online for just the ARC PRO without transformer and without wireless controllers... might be worth investigating...

Believe me I’ve considered it but unless I could find one for $20-30 I’ll have to be patient...I’ve managed to dump probably about $1500 plus selling my snowmobile  into this in a matter of 3-4 months time and if I have to ship I’m thinking that’s about what I’d have in costs but we’ll have to wait and see...still had absolutely no luck contacting anyone from Scalextric customer service...it’s really frustrating...really thought they would have great customer care and I’m all about giving the benefit of a doubt but I’ve never ever had a company so blatantly ignore my plights for help..pretty disappointed with them at the moment

Who are you trying to contact dd and are you sure the number is correct? The Hornby America contact details are here: https://www.hornby.com/us-en/contacts. I also found this number on a Google search: +1 253-922-7194. Don’t forget they are based on the west coast.

I would strongly suggest you speak to Professor Motor also - they have done very good business with you and should be able to organise a back-to-base fix, even if that is to the UK. I am sure the guys at Prof Motor talk to the Hornby America people regularly and to Slot.it in Italy.

You could also contact the Scalextric UK technical dept on +44 1843 233525 - open Monday to Thursday 9-5 (GMT) and Friday 9-3 (GMT). You could refer them to this thread and ask for their advice on how to proceed.

I hope that helps.

Also try Dave Kennedy. He can be found on Slotforum.com and SlotCarIllustrated.com. Maybe twitter and facebook as well...

I finally talked to one of the two gentlemen in tech yesterday and he was very apologetic and said they’ve been real busy and that TK is the man I need to talk to...they have only two techs one of which is the “train guy” for the entire US and he would personally give TK the message..we had fun at my exspense of course but it it what it is and I’m fine with that...the reason I haven’t talked to the professor is mostly because I’ve already rattled the poor mans ear off in the last two months and pretty soon he probably won’t take my calls anymore..lol no but seriously I jus wanted to talk to TK first and if he didn’t know he’d send me there if he thought the professor would anyway..hope that y’all don’t think I’m blaming the company or anyone for my dumb mistakes cause I’m truly not ...I jus get frustrated when I can’t do something especially something I should have no problem with...but I am getting older and it’s getting to the point my 11 yr old will be taking care of the tech stuff! Lol...you guys have been above and beyond with ideas and support and keep throwing ideas out there...thank you all again!
