SARC Pro not counting laps or counting laps intermittently

Pretty frustrated at this point. There is nothing worse then trying to get something setup while the kids watch helplessly.

I got the ARC Pro App connected and got the cars matched to the controllers and then the controllers matched to the colors in the app. I would sometimes get intermittent laps where by the laps start counting for one car, but not the other, and lane one never counts laps. I seems like they need to do a couple of laps and when I do a lane change, THEN is starts counting laps.

When I received the Sunset Speedway set, one car didn't work at all. Another car had a broken chassis but still worked.

Is this common with Scalextric products? I have read a lot of threads and it seems like having to install and re-install an App 3-4 times and such is really unreasonable.

Sounds very frustrating! If one car doesn’t work and another was broken, I would suggest returning the set to the vendor immediately. Who knows what else might be broken? I suspect the set has been bashed up at some point and that is absolutely not your fault.

If it was not for the damage, I was wondering if everything is working when you are not using the app? Yes, sometimes - not often - a faulty install can cause problems.

Update: So I changed the ARC control base away from a turn and put a standard straight in place and it started counting the laps perfectly without issue. I guessed this was the case since the inside lane NEVER counted laps and it had the tightest turn. I was able to do a few races with my daughter with the app on my iPhone. She had a lot of fun.

Interestingly, I found that if you move the track slightly and there is any torque in the lane changers, they stop working.

Are Scalextric products THIS finicky?

I wonder... when you torque the track by moving in the way you mention... what happens if you move the lane change flippers by hand? do you feel any additional resistance to movement? If so it would be that moving the track is distorting the plastic at the base of the pivot point of the flippers... maybe?

Good question. I did feel additional resistence to moving them by hand. I also note that it was only an elevation change of 1/2 inch to get onto a rug.

the lane changers need to be perfectly flat... I would keep then away from bridges, fly-over ramps and steps in carpet etc. If there is any additional friction resistance at their flipper pivot points they are likely to become unreliable...

Probabably also a loose tab causing power loss...

UPDATE: Scalextric is taking care of the cars that is very satisfactory to me. I am impressed with their customer service so far and glad I went with Scalextric.
