@woodcote

I'm pretty sure Scalextric haven't released any individual digital cars for very many years. Jadlams sell new DPR cars in which they've installed a chip and list them as 'digital' on their site. I know other retailers will fit the chip into a DPR car and some even offer a c7005 chip-fitting service for non-DPR cars. But you will always pay the cost of the car + the cost of the chip - and in some cases (especially where soldering is required) an extra fitting fee.

It's extremely easy to fit the C8515 and, if you shop around and use discount codes, you can get cars for a lot less than £41 and chips for as little as £13. The 10% discount for Scalextric Club members on this site (plus free postage on orders over £30) is certainly useful.

Of course, there are eBay sellers who sell digital cars split from sets, some marked 'new' and some 'pre-owned', mostly older super-resistant GT cars.

I understand and agree with your comments.

I am quite happy to fit plugs myself but struggle to justify buying seperate car/plug when it costs me more than a supplier will sell ready fitted.

You mentioned Jadlam so you will know that they sell new high detail cars fitted with C8515 at a discounted price. I was just asking if anyone knew/used another supplier. (For my needs I would save £40)

For my own reasons I would prefer not to buy from Jadlam.

Unfortunately new people cannot join the 'Scalextric Club' and enjoy a discount.

Thanks

@Andy P.

This site? :-)

But they dont sell 'Digital' cars that I can see - only DPR cars and seperate plugs.

As I am in the market for 4 cars I was hoping to find a supplier where the cars are ready to go and priced a bit better then circa £41 + £16 for the setup.

thanks

Just bought secondhand Focus C2962 (retrofitted digital) and whilst it is as fast as my other 'Rally' type cars it needs a lot more throttle to get it upto speed. When pulling the throttle about the same as the other cars it crawls around the track.

I like to use a couple of cars as 'Pace' cars (which means they need to be similar in throttle response) and sadly this means this car is not useable for that purpos, although fine when racing.

Is this something that can be adjusted somehow or just the way it is ?

Someone with more knowledge than me will respond but in the meantime .....

You said you paired the controller with the powerbase but do not mention pairing the car - try putting the car on the inside track and press the button on the powerbase twice (the same colour button as you did for pairing the controller) - the light will flash and when the light is steady green then try again and see if it counts laps.

Can a drift car (Nissan 350Z) be converted to standard guide ?

Well the magnets arrived today - so installed and what a difference ..... lap times are reduced by 4 to 5 seconds on a 816cm track.

I originally tried to fit a stonger magnet but could not easily remove the existing one without fear of damage so then added a second magnet the same size as the original but it fouled on the main cog.

Ordered the small magnets as per Woodcote suggestion (thank you) and they did the trick - originally fitted 2 but not so succesful. Added a total of 4 in the end and that did it. The resistance when lifting the car from the track is now very much the same as other cars I have.

Far happier with the car now ...................

Hi,

ARC AIR is analogue ( so 2 cars with no lane change ) whilst ARC PRO is digital ( upto 6 cars with lane changing )
