AMC Javelin - Scca Trans Am. Watkins Glen 1971

On 15th August in Watkins Glen, the AMC Javelin took its place on the starting grid of Round 9 on the 1971 Trans Am series, behind the Mustang Boss of George Follmer. The Javelin, driven by Mark Donohue, overtook the Mustang during the race to take the win. This continued a dominating season for Donohue in which he won 7 out 10 races and ultimately the Championship.

Rear lights excessively bright

They car runs well but the lights are really bright that the entire rear section glows and the rear lights can be seen through the front windshield of the car

Nice Trans-Am

This is a sharp looking car, with rear brake lights, and a guide to rear axle length that is longer than the other Trans-Ams. I do find it odd that the rear wheels have different inner and outer diameters. This made it hard to find silicons that fit. The green endbell motor is definitely faster than previous versions. I would have preferred a sidewinder, but the inline seems to work well in any case.

Javelin, the new and improved Trans Am.

The javelin starts off with a flat interior allowing more space inside.
It requires only 3 screws to open it up to reveal a new motor which looks like the standard can but is green ended and appears to be faster using dpr on my digital track.
The wheels now use a slot it style design so finding replacements could be a problem at first but the stock tires are exceptionally good and you may never what to change this brand.
Thus this cars corners quite well even with its narrow mustang tire to tire width compared to the wider camaro and challenger.
What also is worth noting is the javelin guide to rear axle is the longest of the can am series thus changing the standard handling from the mustang, camaro, and challenger, but it does go through tight r1 curves nicely.
Overall the javelin is a real winner.
Now where do we get more green ended motors and replacement tires ?
